Idanr Community Seeks Probe into APC Congress Killings

The Idanr community in the Idanr Local Government Area of Ondo State has formally petitioned President Bola Tinubu and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, seeking an investigation into violent incidents during an APC congress. On February 18, 2026, two individuals were reportedly killed, and several others sustained injuries when suspected political thugs disrupted the congress.

The letter, signed by traditional ruler High Chief Akinloy Akinboni, emphasizes the community's alarm over the violence and calls for a thorough investigation by security agencies. The traditional ruler condemned the brutal murders as unacceptable and urged the federal and state governments, alongside the APC leadership and police, to establish an independent panel to investigate the attacks.

The community expressed its right to seek legal redress if violence persists and warned that they may explore alternative democratic platforms for representation. The Ondo State Police Command has arrested 13 suspects in connection with the violence following intelligence-led operations.
