Ondo State Suspends Officials Over ₦700,000 Recruitment Scam, Involving Forged Appointment Letters

The Ondo State government has suspended two officials, a director, and a deputy director over an alleged ₦700,000 per-person recruitment scam. The scam involved collecting money from applicants in exchange for fraudulent appointment letters.

The government clarified that some protesters had presented forged documents during a biometric verification exercise for newly recruited teachers. Investigations revealed that three officials from the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) were involved in the scam with an external collaborator.
