Ondo Protests Against Fasoranti's SSG Reappointment

The reappointment of Taiwo Fasoranti as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) has led to protests in Ondo State, with residents arguing that he should not reclaim the position after resigning to contest in the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary. Fasoranti, son of Afenifere’s National Leader Chief Reuben Fasoranti, resigned in April 2023 to pursue the Ondo Central Senatorial seat for the 2027 elections but lost in the APC primary, which his supporters claim was manipulated.

Ayodeji Ologun, Chairman of the Ondo Redemption Front, criticized the prolonged vacancy of the SSG position, stating that it reflects poor governance under Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. Ologun emphasized that the SSG role is crucial for policy coordination and administrative efficiency, and questioned whether the office has become a political holding area.

He noted that independent assessments rank Ondo State poorly in public hospital satisfaction, further highlighting governance issues.
