Senator Adegbomire Honors Akeredolu on 70th Birthday

Adeniyi Adegbomire, the senator for Ondo South Senatorial District, paid tribute to the late former Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, on the occasion of his posthumous 70th birthday. Akeredolu, who died on December 27, 2023, at the age of 67 after a prolonged illness, was described by Adegbomire as “a tree that almost made a forest.” In a statement released to journalists, Adegbomire highlighted Akeredolu's courageous leadership and significant contributions to democracy, security, and governance in Nigeria.

He emphasized Akeredolu's pivotal role in establishing the Western Nigeria Security Network, known as Amotekun Corps, calling him the “Amotekun Generalissimo.” Adegbomire noted that Akeredolu's legacy includes his commitment to justice and community policing. He also acknowledged Akeredolu's impact on the legal profession, infrastructure, and socio-economic development in Ondo State, stating that Akeredolu's influence will continue to resonate through the institutions he built and the lives he touched.
