APC Chieftains Demand Kekemeke's Resignation in Ondo

In Ondo State, chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed opposition to Ayo Kekemeke's intention to contest for the Ondo South senatorial ticket. They have called for his resignation from his current roles, including that of the APC South West Zonal Chairman and Chairman of the Nigerian Postal Service, to adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act, specifically sections 84 and 88, which require political appointees to resign before contesting for elective office.

The dissenting party members argue that Kekemeke's pursuit of the senatorial ticket is morally inappropriate and disrupts political equity within the region. They emphasize that allowing him to contest would concentrate political power further and could lead to legal challenges.

The aggrieved chieftains have urged the national leadership of the APC to act swiftly to uphold internal democracy and ensure compliance with electoral laws.
