Ondo State Suspends 27 Students for Misconduct

The Ondo State Ministry of Education has suspended 27 secondary school students from three public secondary schools in Akure due to allegations of misconduct. The affected schools are Oyemekun Grammar School, Aquinas College, and CAC Grammar School.

The indefinite suspension was announced following reports of unruly behavior that constitutes gross misconduct, violating the state's code of conduct for public secondary schools. Dr.

Akindel Ig, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, stated that the action was necessary despite ongoing efforts to address indiscipline within schools. The Ministry has expressed concern over increasing cases of bullying, fighting, truancy, and indecent behavior circulating on social media among students.

The Ministry maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards behaviors that undermine the integrity of the educational system. The suspended students are barred from entering their schools and participating in school-related activities until further notice.

A review of the cases will be conducted by a disciplinary committee in collaboration with the Ministry.
