Ondo Youths Demand Fair Political Appointments

Youths from Akoko North West Local Government Area in Ondo State protested against alleged political marginalization on October 23, 2023. They expressed concerns regarding the persistent political marginalization of their area at both state and federal levels.

In an open letter addressed to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the youth, represented by Adefemi Adamu, Elegbeley Afinjuomo, Oladimeji Stephen Fagbuyi, and Ojo, urged the governor to ensure equitable distribution of political appointments across local governments. They lamented the current political imbalance, particularly in their constituencies, which include Irun, Ogbagi, and Esan.

The letter condemned the sidelining of these constituencies in high-profile federal and state positions, citing a concentration of appointments that contravenes federal character principles. The youth highlighted that the current House of Representatives seat is held by Hon.

Ifeoluwa Ehindero and previous seats by Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, along with several ministerial appointments.

They appealed for urgent action to strengthen grassroots support and address the political disparities.
