Kwara Youths Protest Political Marginalization Ahead of 2027

On Saturday, youths in Omu Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State protested against perceived political marginalization within the Ekiti bloc, which they claim has dominated the House of Representatives seat for nearly three decades. The protest, captured in a viral video, highlighted the grievances of the Ekiti-speaking populace, who argue that they have been sidelined despite their electoral contributions.

The demonstrators chanted "Ekiti Lokan," demanding a shift in power and fair representation in line with democratic principles. They accused the Igbomina bloc of monopolizing political representation, which they believe undermines inclusivity and equity.

The protest comes amid rising political tension within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections. Incumbent lawmaker Abdulraheem Olawuyi, popularly known as Ajuloopin, has held the seat since 2018, following the death of former lawmaker Funk Adedoyin.

The Ekiti bloc has urged APC leadership, including President Bola Tinubu, to respect an unwritten rotational arrangement for the constituency.
