Police Rescue Four Hostages in Abuja Kidnapping Attempt

On July 10, 2026, at approximately 10:40 PM, the FCT Police Command received a distress call regarding an armed kidnapping in the Yellow House area of Mpape, Abuja. Following the report, AHM Sanusi, the Commissioner of Police, deployed the anti-kidnap unit and 24 police personnel to the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the assailants shot two residents, prompting four others to be taken hostage and marched towards Jikoko Hill and Ushafa Forest. SP Josephine Adeh confirmed that one victim, Mr.

Babangida, was killed during the attack, while another sustained a gunshot wound but was receiving treatment. The police maintained a pursuit of the kidnappers throughout the night, culminating in an exchange of gunfire at around 12:05 AM on July 11, 2026.

The police successfully rescued the four hostages unharmed and are continuing efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects, urging the public to report any suspicious activities.
