Police Rescue Five in Abuja Kidnapping Operation

On June 9, 2026, the FCT Police Command conducted a successful operation in the Byazhin community of Bwari, Abuja, rescuing five kidnapping victims. The operation was led by Commissioner of Police Ahm Sanusi and involved the NPF Anti Kidnap Unit and local hunter vigilante groups.

During the operation, two kidnappers were killed, and two others, identified as Icheh Mohammadu and Abubakar Usman, were arrested. The police engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel, resulting in the neutralization of two suspects and the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and magazines.

The police urged healthcare practitioners to report any individuals with gunshot-related injuries. The rescued victims were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention, and efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their families.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to combatting kidnapping and violent crime in the Federal Capital Territory.
