Police Rescue Four Victims in Nasarawa Kidnap Attempt

On July 21, 2026, at approximately 9:40 p.m., the Nasarawa State Police Command, through operatives from the Andaha Division, foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued four victims in Akwanga Local Government Area. The operation was initiated following a distress call regarding suspected kidnappers near Megona Filling Station along the Akwanga-Jos Road.

Upon arrival, the police were met with gunfire from the armed suspects, leading to a gun duel. The police's superior tactical response forced the kidnappers to abandon their victims and escape into the surrounding bush, sustaining injuries.

The rescued victims were unharmed, and several provisions believed to be stolen were recovered. Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended the operatives for their swift action and ordered a manhunt for the fleeing suspects, deploying all available operational and intelligence resources.
