Fatal Lagos Road Crash Leaves One Dead, Four Injured

A road crash on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos on Tuesday resulted in one death and four serious injuries. The incident occurred near Iyana Iworo in the early hours of the day.

Mr. Olawal Afolabi, head of public affairs at the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed the incident.

The crash involved two fully loaded commercial Toyota Sienna buses and was triggered by reckless driving, leading to a head-on collision. Victims were immediately evacuated to a nearby trauma center for urgent medical attention.

Preliminary investigations indicated that reckless driving was a significant factor in the crash. LASEMA's Tiger Squad C3 command arrived at the scene around 8:00 AM to coordinate rescue and recovery operations.

Dr. Olufemi Ok Osanyintolu, the permanent secretary of LASEMA, urged motorists to strictly adhere to traffic regulations, warning against excessive speed and poor lane discipline, emphasizing the need for caution on major highways.
