Katsina Community Fights Back Against Bandit Attack

In Katsina, residents of Dansarai mobilized to defend their community against an armed attack by bandits, resulting in the deaths of four assailants. The attack involved bandits armed with sophisticated weapons, including AK-47 rifles, who opened fire indiscriminately, killing four villagers instantly and injuring eight others.

Eyewitnesses reported that the local vigilante group fought back, successfully repelling the attackers and forcing them to flee. Despite multiple distress calls made to security agencies during the attack, no personnel arrived to assist the community.

Local leaders lamented the lack of security presence, calling for state and federal government intervention to address the increasing vulnerability of the area to banditry. The eastern part of the Malumfashi local government area has been particularly hard hit by such criminal activities, with residents appealing for permanent security measures to protect their lives and livelihoods.
