Police Arrest Five Suspects in Ilesa Cult Clash

The Osun State Police Command reported the arrest of five suspects involved in a violent clash between rival cult groups in Ilesa on Monday at approximately 7 PM. The police's anti-cultism team apprehended the suspects following an exchange of gunfire in the Adeti area.

Initial investigations revealed that the clash was linked to ongoing voter registration exercises in the region, although this connection has not been officially confirmed. Abiodun Ojelabi, the police spokesperson, indicated that the suspects were initially thought to be armed hoodlums.

The police recovered an axe and a criminal charm from the suspects. Musa Olurod, a representative from the Independent National Electoral Commission, did not respond to messages regarding the incident at the time of the report.
