Troops Rescue Abducted Civilian in Kwara State

On April 30, troops from the Nigerian Army's 244 Battalion, in collaboration with local vigilantes, conducted a rescue operation in the Tunga Maje Forest area of Kwara State, specifically targeting the Vera Village region. The operation was initiated following intelligence reports indicating that a civilian had been abducted.

During the operation, the security team made contact with the suspects, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire. The troops successfully rescued the abducted civilian, while one local vigilante sustained a gunshot wound during the encounter.

The injured vigilante was promptly evacuated for medical attention. Additionally, two motorcycles believed to have been used by the kidnappers were recovered.

The operation is ongoing as security forces continue to monitor the area to prevent further attacks.
