Aisha Achimugu Disputes $13 Million Claim in Raid

Aisha Achimugu, a businesswoman, has publicly clarified that during a raid on her residence, only $50,000 and N13 million were discovered, contrary to reports claiming that $13 million was found. This clarification was made during an interview on Channel Television.

Achimugu is currently embroiled in a legal battle following allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering, which were brought against her after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared her wanted last year. The Federal High Court in Abuja upheld a final forfeiture of $13 million linked to her company, Ocean Engineering Oil and Gas Ltd, in March.

The EFCC alleged that Ocean Engineering was involved in an unlicensed bureau de change operation and that the funds were proceeds of unlawful activities. Achimugu emphasized that the figures reported were incorrect and stated that the money found belonged to her mother.

She also mentioned that she would not provide further details as the matter is already in court, expressing confidence in Nigeria's judicial system.
