FCT Enforces No-Smartphone Policy for Staff, Allows Only Torchlight Phones

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Nigeria has implemented a no-smartphone policy for staff below grade level 14 within office premises during work hours, as stated in a circular obtained by Sahara Report. Starting from December 1, 2025, employees are restricted from using smartphones, smartwatches, and internet-enabled gadgets at work.

Only basic torchlight phones without internet capabilities are permitted for essential communication. The policy was agreed upon during a general staff meeting on November 18, 2025, and management is ensuring strict compliance among subordinates.
