OPEP Troops Neutralize Terrorists, Arrest Kidnap Suspect

On April 4, 2026, OPEP troops successfully neutralized two suspected terrorists and arrested a kidnap suspect during a coordinated clearance operation across Plateau State. Captain Polycarp Oteh confirmed that the operation specifically targeted insurgents in the Wase Local Government Area, focusing on the Babangida Adua and Bokayi Village areas, as well as the Dutsen Zaki Forest.

The operation involved a gun battle along Babangida Adua Road, resulting in the death of two suspects, while others fled with gunshot injuries. Subsequent searches led to the recovery of arms, including local firearms and several rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

Additionally, on April 5, troops in Namu District intercepted four suspected terrorists based on intelligence regarding their suspicious movements, recovering 100 rounds of ammunition. However, during efforts to locate their hideout, troops faced heavy attacks, resulting in three arrests and the death of a suspect.

In Shendam Local Government Area, troops collaborated with residents to arrest a suspect linked to a recent kidnapping in Gidan Mangoro Village.
