Optimus Bank Launches Blood Donation Drive in Lagos

Optimus Bank has initiated a blood drive in Lagos to support critical healthcare needs and address Nigeria's blood supply gap. The initiative, themed “Give Blood.

Give Life,” is part of the bank's corporate social responsibility platform, Impact Starts With Us. It mobilized employees, stakeholders, and community members to contribute to a cause that can save lives.

Dr. Ademola Odeyemi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Optimus Bank, emphasized the bank's commitment to creating meaningful impact beyond banking. The World Health Organisation estimates Nigeria requires 1.8 to 2 million units of blood annually, yet only 371,827 units were collected in 2024.

The initiative aims to encourage a culture of regular voluntary donation, particularly important for women experiencing childbirth complications and other medical emergencies. Morolake Philip-Ladipo, Head of Corporate Communications at Optimus Bank, stated that the initiative is about helping those in urgent need of care.

The blood drive was conducted with technical support from the Department of Haematology and Blood Transfusion.
