Dr. Ikenna Ugwu Provides Free Eye Care in Enugu

Dr. Ikenna Ugwu, a renowned optometrist based in Agbor, Delta State, offered free eye care services to over 300 citizens in Amechi Uwani and surrounding communities within the Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State. The services included free eye examinations, medications, diagnosis, and High Blood Pressure checks, alongside donations of eye glasses and contact lenses, valued at millions of naira.

This initiative was designed to honor his late parents, known for their philanthropy. Dr. Ugwu engaged two other optometrists for the outreach, noting that many individuals were unaware of their eye-related deficiencies, which could pose serious health risks.

He highlighted the importance of early detection and education to combat ignorance and harmful traditional practices. Chief Geoffrey Umeanuka, a stakeholder and businessman, praised Ugwu's efforts, and Engr. Kenechukwu Ugwu, Dr. Ugwu's brother, confirmed that the outreach was a family decision to honor their parents.
