Free Medical Care Initiative Benefits Over 5,000 Patients

A health initiative in Nigeria provided free medical care to over 5,000 patients across Isuikwuato and Umunneochi. The first phase at the General Hospital in Isuikwuato lasted three days, where patients overflowed from consulting rooms and filled corridors.

Many underwent surgeries, including hernia repairs, hydrocele operations, and cataract removals. Notably, a complex exploratory laparotomy saved a man whose intestine had turned gangrene.

The second phase began on Sunday, July 26, at Madam Susan Mba Memorial Health Centre in Ugwuodo Umuaku Isuochi, scheduled to run for five days. During the Isuikwuato phase alone, over 800 residents received free prescription glasses.

The initiative underscored the challenges of healthcare access in Nigeria, with patients displaying resilience amid suffering and neglect.
