Osimhen Returns to Nigeria for Surgery Decision on Injury

Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles striker, returned to Nigeria to evaluate options regarding surgery for a fractured right forearm, which he sustained during Galatasaray's 4-0 Champions League defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday. The injury occurred in the 10th minute when Osimhen collided with Liverpool's central defender Ibrahima Konaté.

Despite visible discomfort, he completed the first half but later underwent a medical check that confirmed the fracture. Galatasaray subsequently placed his arm in a cast.

Osimhen is expected to wait for swelling to reduce before making a final decision on surgery, which could sideline him for approximately six weeks. This timeline could see him miss crucial Super Lig fixtures against Trabzonspor, Kocaelispor, and Gençlerbirliği, as well as the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26.

Additionally, Galatasaray's coach Okan Buruk acknowledged that Osimhen's early exit was a factor in the match's outcome.
