Ossai Endorses APC Direct Primary for 2027 Elections

Nicholas Ossai, a former federal lawmaker, expressed his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) adopting a direct primary model ahead of the 2027 general elections. He described this move as a significant step towards strengthening participatory democracy and internal party transparency.

Ossai made his views known shortly after submitting his nomination form to contest for the Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, and Ukwuani federal constituency seat in Delta State. He explained that the direct primary model places decision-making power directly in the hands of party members, allowing them to determine the party's flag bearer.

This system is seen as a credible democratic method for candidate selection. Ossai noted that candidates emerging from direct primaries often enjoy stronger legitimacy and broader support.

He expressed confidence in his political standing and the goodwill of party members, aiming to return to the House of Representatives rather than contesting a Senate seat.
