Adeleke Alleges APC Plans to Disrupt 2026 Election

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has raised concerns about potential disruptions to the upcoming governorship election on August 15, 2026, alleging that certain elements within the All Progressives Congress (APC) are resorting to anti-democratic tactics due to fear of losing. A statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawal Rashe, claims that opinion surveys conducted between late 2025 and March 2026 indicate that APC's popularity is below 30%, while Adeleke's approval rating ranges from 68% to 72%.

Adeleke further alleges that recent comments from Akin Ogunbiyi reflect tensions within the APC, particularly among factions linked to former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. He accuses the opposition of attempting to destabilize the political landscape and suggests that the APC is preparing to disrupt the electoral process rather than accept defeat.

APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi dismissed these allegations as unfounded, arguing that they reflect panic within Adeleke's camp. The political battle is expected to escalate as both sides prepare for the election.
