Osun Assembly Raises Concerns Over INEC Official Redeployment

On Thursday, the Osun State House of Assembly raised concerns regarding the recent redeployment of officials by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by Mutiu Agbok. The Assembly, under the leadership of Speaker Mr. Adewale Egbedun, described the sudden changes as potentially compromising the electoral process ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship elections.

Egbedun noted that the redeployment, which included officials from Ondo State, could influence the electoral process, particularly in the Ijesa Senatorial District. He emphasized that no administrative changes should override the will of the Osun people, asserting that the integrity of the elections must be maintained.

The Assembly called for vigilance among the electorate to ensure that their votes reflect their true choices. The elections are scheduled for August 15, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking re-election under the People's Democratic Party, alongside candidates from various political parties including Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress and Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress.
