Osun APC Alleges ₦13.7 Billion Payroll Fraud in State

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged a ₦13.7 billion payroll fraud within Governor Adeleke's administration, claiming it is linked to a ghost worker scheme. The party's chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, made these allegations during a press conference in Osogbo, urging anti-corruption agencies to investigate.

The claims stem from an audit reportedly conducted by the state government, which revealed that the current administration is paying salaries intended for 5,615 workers into a single bank account. Despite the audit findings submitted in July 2024, Lawal criticized the government for failing to take action against identified individuals linked to multiple bank accounts associated with payroll irregularities.

He also expressed concern over the administration's handling of the audit and alleged that the government had previously dismissed teachers and health workers due to financial constraints while continuing to siphon funds through ghost worker channels. The APC has called for a thorough investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other relevant bodies.
