Osun APC Demands Police Action on Political Killings

The Osun State Progress Congress APC has formally petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to ensure the arrest and prosecution of individuals allegedly connected to political killings in Osun State. This demand was articulated in a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Oluremi Omowaiy, head of the media and public committee of the APC governorship campaign council.

The council accused Senator Lere Oyewumi of attempting to divert public attention from past political killings involving APC chieftains, specifically referencing the tragic death of 14-year-old Ezekiel Olopad in Irepodun Local Government Area. Omowaiy alleged that Oyewumi's proposed protest over Olopad's death was not a genuine call for justice but rather an effort to distract from ongoing investigations into the killings of two APC figures, Hon.

Sahe Oyegunju and Hon. Remi Abass, who were reportedly killed in February 2023.

The council urged the Inspector General of Police to ensure that suspects linked to these political killings are apprehended and prosecuted according to the law.
