Lawyer Urges IG to End Political Killings in Osun

Lawyer Olajengbesi has called on the Inspector General of Police to take immediate action to end political killings in Osun State. His plea comes in light of reports that at least five residents, including a 14-year-old boy, have lost their lives during the political campaigns leading up to the governorship election scheduled for August 15.

Olajengbesi submitted a petition to the police headquarters in Abuja, expressing concern over the pattern of election-related violence that poses a significant threat to public safety and undermines the credibility of the upcoming election. He accused the Osun State Police Command of complacency regarding these killings and demanded the immediate redeployment of the police commissioner to ensure a thorough investigation into each incident of political violence.

Olajengbesi outlined the need for a comprehensive review of security architecture in Osun State to guarantee peace during the electoral period and called for the deployment of additional police personnel to identified flashpoints.
