Osun Police Parade 19 Suspects for Assault on Officers

On March 29, 2026, the Osun State Police Command, led by Commissioner Ibrahim Gotan, paraded 19 suspects in connection with an alleged attack on police officers in Ilobu. The incident occurred on March 24, 2026, when police were deployed to address disturbances caused by disgruntled elements involved in a land boundary dispute.

During the altercation, officers were reportedly subjected to inhumane treatment, with some being dragged from the palace of the Olobu. Following the incident, an intervention team was dispatched, resulting in the arrest of four suspects.

Subsequent intelligence-driven operations led to the arrest of an additional 15 suspects, bringing the total to 19. Among those paraded were village heads Baal Apeponroro and Olaitan Bashiru, aged 53, and 65, respectively.

The police recovered a single-barrel gun and live cartridges during the operation, warning that individuals or groups attempting to shield the suspects would face the full weight of the law.
