Osun State Election 2026: Voting Ends, Results Begin

On August 15, 2026, voting in the Osun State election concluded, and officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced the sorting and counting of votes. This process began shortly after the official closing time of 2:30 p.m., with voters still in line permitted to complete their voting.

INEC officials sorted ballot papers by political parties and candidates, with party agents and observers present to ensure transparency. Early results emerged from various polling units, notably at Polling Unit 39, Ward 4 in Osogbo, where Accord led with 65 votes, followed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) with 43 votes.

Other results from Osogbo showed Accord with 281 votes against APC’s 82 at Ward 4, Unit 29, and similar trends were observed in other local government areas. The sorting and counting process is crucial as it forms the basis for the collation of results at higher levels, indicating a closely contested election.
