Voter Turnout High in Osun Governorship Election 2026

On the morning of the Osun Governorship Election, voters began arriving at polling units across the state, with significant turnout noted in Ejigbo and Ede. Accreditation commenced in many areas, including Balogun Unit 1 Ward 4 and various units in Ede North and Ede South Local Government Areas.

Reports indicated that voters were present as early as 6:30 AM, with some arriving at 6:40 AM to ensure their names were verified by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Security measures were in place, with personnel from the Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) positioned at strategic locations to enforce vehicular movement restrictions and prevent potential violence.

The election was particularly significant as Ede is the hometown of Ademola Adeleke, the governorship candidate of Accord. By 8 AM, most polling units were set up and ready for the election process.
