INEC Distributes Materials for Osun Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has initiated the distribution of sensitive electoral materials across the 30 local government areas of Osun State in preparation for the governorship election set for Saturday, August 15, 2026. Kunle Ajayi, the INEC National Commissioner overseeing the Osun election, announced this development on Friday, stating that the distribution is taking place at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Osogbo.

The delay in the distribution was attributed to the late arrival of newly printed ballot papers and other electoral materials from Abuja, necessitated by the recent inclusion of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Francis Ajala, and his running mate, Faseke Oladipo, which increased the number of political parties contesting the election to 15. INEC is working to ensure that the distribution is completed before voting begins, with all materials being reproduced to reflect the updated candidate list.
