Rufai Critiques Wike, APC Over Osun Election Loss

During Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’, Oseni Rufai criticized Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the recent Osun State governorship election. Rufai accused Wike of ‘gaslighting’ Nigerians regarding the election outcome, asserting that claims of the Federal Government not deploying its influence were unfounded.

He stated that significant political and financial resources were allegedly committed to secure an APC victory, which ultimately failed. The Independent National Electoral Commission reported that Ademola Adeleke won the election with 511,067 votes, defeating the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who garnered 444,815 votes.

Adeleke won 19 out of 30 local government areas, resulting in a victory margin of 66,252 votes. Rufai dismissed Wike's comments about the federal power's deployment as denial, emphasizing that federal-aligned interests made substantial efforts to influence the election outcome but were resisted by voters.
