Wike Claims APC Lost Osun Election Due to Limited Federal Influence

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) lost the Osun governorship election due to the Federal Government's limited use of its political influence. Wike made these comments following the August 15 election, which was won by Ademola Adeleke of the Accord party, who received 511,067 votes compared to APC's Bola Oyebamiji, who garnered 444,815 votes.

Wike claimed that if the President had fully deployed federal resources, the outcome would have been different. He noted that Adeleke might have been an APC member under different circumstances.

Wike expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's prospects for the 2027 presidential election, suggesting it would be easier than the 2023 election due to a weakened opposition. He remarked that the opposition is currently "crippled" and lacking direction.
