Adeleke Demands Police Redeployment Amid Violence in Osun

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has accused the police of partisanship amid rising political violence in the state. He made this statement during a visit from Deputy Inspector General of Police Adegoke Fayoad and his entourage in Osogbo.

Adeleke highlighted the recent surge in unresolved political murders, including three cases in the past few weeks, and criticized the police for failing to arrest known suspects. He expressed concerns over police collaboration with political thugs, which he believes exacerbates violence.

Adeleke called for the redeployment of Ibrahim Gotan, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, to restore public confidence in law enforcement. He insisted that the police must act impartially to create a peaceful environment for the upcoming elections, referencing the recent peaceful elections in Anambra and Ekiti states.

Adeleke urged the Inspector General of Police to ensure that any acts of violence are fully investigated and that those responsible are prosecuted.
