Adeleke’s Council Urges INEC to Ensure Election Integrity

The Osun State Campaign Council, under the leadership of Director General Lere Oyewumi, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address significant concerns regarding the integrity of upcoming elections. Speaking to journalists in Osogbo, Oyewumi highlighted allegations of shortcomings in recent off-cycle elections held in Ogun, Oyo, Jigawa, and Ekiti states, including issues related to voter cards and ballot papers.

He expressed worries about the credibility of the electoral process, specifically mentioning claims of preloading Biometric Voter Accreditation (BVA) machines by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun. Oyewumi emphasized that these allegations, if proven true, pose a serious threat to the integrity of the electoral process.

He called for transparency in the distribution of new Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and warned against any form of proxy collection that could disenfranchise voters. The campaign council aims to ensure a credible electoral process that reflects the wishes of the electorate in the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15.
