Adeleke's Campaign Accuses Police of Election Bias

The Imole Campaign Council, representing Governor Ademola Adeleke, has accused the Osun State Police Command of attempting to influence the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026. In a statement by spokesperson Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council claimed that the recent arrest of Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, was politically motivated and a reckless abuse of authority.

The council alleged that the police, led by Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan, had deviated from their constitutional duty and engaged in political activities. They rejected allegations linking Igbalaye to criminal activities and criticized the police's interpretation of electoral laws, asserting that the Electoral Act 2026 does not support claims of vote buying prior to election day.

The council also defended the possession of ₦4.8 million recovered during the police operation, stating it was intended for logistics related to political meetings. Furthermore, they reported incidents of suspected APC supporters invading collation centers and called for the police to act impartially.
