IGP Disu Ensures Neutrality for Osun Election Security

On August 15, the governorship election in Osun State will take place, and Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu has assured the public of the Nigeria Police Force's neutrality before, during, and after the election. Disu made this statement during a meeting in Abuja with civil society organizations, including Auwal Rafsanjani from the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), focusing on election security.

He confirmed that robust security measures have been implemented to ensure a peaceful, free, and credible election. Disu reiterated that the police have no political affiliations and are committed solely to upholding the lawful choice of the electorate.

Security personnel and operational equipment have been deployed across Osun State, with increased intelligence gathering to prevent potential threats. He warned that individuals involved in vote-buying, voter intimidation, ballot box snatching, or other electoral offenses would face legal consequences, regardless of their political status.

Disu urged political parties and candidates to promote peaceful elections based on ideas and policies.
