INEC Ensures Neutral Transport for Osun Guber Election

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, stated that the Commission will not compromise its transport logistics for the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026. During an INEC stakeholders’ meeting in Osogbo, he emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with transport unions would be strictly enforced, requiring neutrality from vehicles involved in the election.

Logistics are crucial for opening polls by 8:30 a.m. across 3,763 polling units. Registration Area Centres (RACs) will open on August 14, 2026, at noon, with all materials and personnel required to be present.

To enhance efficiency, INEC has decentralized its distribution network into 97 Super Registration Area Centres and 105 Registration Area Centres. A reward scheme for Electoral Officers achieving 100% polling commencement by 8:30 a.m. was also announced.

INEC confirmed that 14 political parties will participate in the election, and the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) has been extended until July 31, 2026.
