Ooni Ogunwusi Urges Peace Ahead of Osun Elections

Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has appealed for peace in Osun State as the 2026 governorship elections approach. He made this appeal on Thursday during a visit from Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, who is also a member of the party's campaign council.

The Ooni, who serves as the permanent chairman of the Southern Nigerian Traditional Rulers Council, urged political stakeholders to conduct their campaigns peacefully to maintain stability in the state. He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for improvements in Nigeria's security architecture, particularly the recent rescue operations in Oyo State.

Ooni Ogunwusi called on the APC to remain united throughout the election period and warned against violence and intimidation that could disrupt the traditional peace of Osun State. He encouraged eligible voters to exercise their democratic rights without fear and urged stakeholders to uphold Yoruba values of integrity, discipline, and respect.

Bola Oyebamiji assured the Ooni that the APC would prioritize infrastructure and welfare in its governance.
