Ooni of Ife Urges Fairness in Osun Governorship Election

On Tuesday, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, addressed the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, regarding the increasing political tension in Osun State as the August 15 governorship election approaches.

Speaking at his palace in Ile-Ife, the Ooni emphasized the need for a fair and just electoral process, urging INEC to act as a stabilizing force amidst the growing unrest. He acknowledged Amupitan's qualifications and track record, expressing pride in his leadership.

The Ooni called for unity among traditional rulers and politicians, stressing that Osun State's interests surpass individual political ambitions. In response, Amupitan reaffirmed his commitment to conducting a credible and transparent election, recognizing the significance of this election as a precursor to the general elections next year.

He sought the royal blessings and wisdom of the traditional leaders in preparation for the upcoming electoral process.
