APC Urges Adeleke to Stop Blame-Game Ahead of Election

The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to stop blaming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other party leaders for his political troubles as the August 15, 2026 governorship election approaches. During a campaign rally in Olorunda Local Government Area, Adeleke alleged extrajudicial killings in the state and warned that a repeat of the 1983 political crisis could occur if he loses the upcoming election.

He urged President Tinubu to ensure a free and fair election. In response, APC National Secretary Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru dismissed Adeleke's claims, suggesting they stemmed from fear of defeat.

Basiru highlighted issues in Osun, including over 20 dilapidated roads and a deficit of 30,000 teachers, arguing these problems hinder the state's economic growth. He asserted that merely endorsing Tinubu does not guarantee Adeleke's re-election, emphasizing the APC's rising popularity and the strength of their candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
