APC Urges Adeleke to Focus on Issues Ahead of Election

With 11 days remaining until the August 15 Osun State governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to halt his attacks on President Bola Tinubu and former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Bashiru, made this statement to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, responding to allegations made by Adeleke during a campaign rally in Osogbo.

Adeleke accused his political opponents of orchestrating extrajudicial killings and plotting rigging, while appealing to President Tinubu for intervention. He warned against a repeat of the political crisis of 1983 in Yorubaland and asserted that Osun would resist any manipulation of the upcoming election, despite his support for Tinubu's 2027 presidential ambition.

Bashiru dismissed Adeleke's claims, suggesting they reflect his anxiety over an impending electoral defeat, stating that a sitting governor expressing concerns about rigging shortly before an election indicates fear. He emphasized that Adeleke's endorsement of Tinubu does not guarantee him a second term.
