Adeleke: Osun People Will Resist Intimidation Ahead of Election

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State and Accord Party governorship candidate, stated that the people of Osun would not succumb to intimidation as the August 15 governorship election approaches. He expressed confidence that voters would defend their democratic rights, citing a historical resilience against oppression.

Adeleke claimed that independent opinion polls indicate a forthcoming victory for the Accord Party, attributing this to his administration's achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare, and pension reforms. His remarks come amid rising political tensions due to the arrest of Secretary to the State Government Teslim Igbalaiye and five others by the Osun State Police Command for alleged electoral offences, including vote-buying.

The police reported recovering N4.81 million and other items during a raid. However, both the Osun State Government and the Adeleke Campaign Organisation rejected these allegations, claiming the arrests were politically motivated and aimed at intimidating opposition figures.
