INEC Promises Credible Osun Election Results on August 15

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that the results of the Osun governorship election scheduled for August 15 will accurately reflect the will of the people. Oluwatoyin Babalola, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Osun, addressed concerns during a multi-stakeholder roundtable organized by the New Generation Girl Women Development Initiative in Osogbo.

He affirmed that INEC is committed to conducting a credible, free, and inclusive election in compliance with the Electoral Act. Abimbola Aladejar Salako, the Executive Director of the initiative, highlighted the need for transparency and citizen participation in the electoral process.

She noted that the recent Ekiti governorship election revealed gaps in the implementation of the 2026 Electoral Act, which must be addressed to ensure the integrity of the upcoming Osun election. Babalola reiterated INEC's dedication to maintaining neutrality and integrity in managing the electoral process, while 14 political parties are set to field candidates, including incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking re-election on the platform of the People's Democratic Party.
