Osun State Aims for FIFA Certification of Osogbo Stadium

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke announced plans for the remodelled Osogbo stadium to achieve FIFA certification, with a seating capacity increase from 4,000 to 15,000 upon completion. During a project review session, Adeleke emphasized that the upgrade will meet international standards and involve local and international technical experts to ensure compliance with FIFA requirements.

The governor highlighted the importance of the stadium in positioning Osun State as a destination for major sporting events, which will support the development of local talent. He also mentioned the establishment of the Osun State Sport Trust Fund and the Osun State Sport Commission to strengthen funding and develop appropriate policy frameworks for the sports sector.

Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi is tasked with driving this initiative, which aims to modernize the sports system in Osun and create better opportunities for athletes.
