Adeleke Backs Tinubu's 2027 Bid Amid Heavy Police Presence

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State expressed his support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, referring to him as “our own son, father and leader.” He emphasized his connection to Tinubu, stating, “I am the governor of the ancestral birthplace of Mr President.” During the election held in Osun State, a substantial police presence was reported, with 32 Commissioners, 36 Deputy Commissioners, and 51 Assistant Commissioners deployed to the state, which has 1,906,390 eligible voters. This deployment was part of a larger force that included 35,000 police personnel and 10,000 Civil Defence officers, alongside heavily armed soldiers.

The overwhelming presence of security forces raised questions about the use of federal might in the electoral process, as many citizens wondered why such intimidation was necessary if the president was genuinely supported.
