EFCC Explains No Freeze on Ekiti Accounts During Election

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) clarified that it had no reason to freeze the accounts of the Ekiti State government during its governorship election, as there was no incriminating information against the state. This statement was made by Wilson Uwujaren, the Director of Public Affairs for the EFCC, during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

Uwujaren noted that the EFCC had previously restricted the accounts of Edo State when funds were being moved to suspicious accounts, which helped preserve N12 billion. He emphasized that the EFCC's intervention in Osun State was based on specific information that warranted their actions, stating, “We didn’t have any reason to intervene in Ekiti the way we are intervening now in Osun.” Uwujaren reiterated that the EFCC is not targeting anyone but is simply performing its duties.
