APC's Basiru Loses Osogbo LG Election to Adeleke

In the recent Osogbo Local Government election, Senator Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), lost to the incumbent governor and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke. The results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the Osogbo LG Collation Centre showed that the Accord Party garnered 36,480 votes, while the APC received 30,474 votes, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came in third with 1,503 votes.

Despite the overall loss, Basiru secured victory at his polling unit 003, Alagba Osogbo, where he polled 177 votes for his party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, against Adeleke’s 60 votes. Basiru praised the residents for their turnout, which he viewed as a commitment to democratic governance, and commended security agencies for maintaining order during the election process.

The total registered voters were 167,704, with 70,840 accredited voters and 69,307 valid votes cast.
