Allegations of Cash Distribution in Osun Governorship Election

During the governorship election in Osun State on Saturday, voters at a polling unit in Ejigbo Local Government Area accused suspected supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of distributing cash to voters. The incidents were recorded at Ward 4, Unit 7 around 9:30 a.m. and at Ward 4, Unit 13 around 10:30 a.m.

Voters confronted those allegedly sharing money, claiming that some fled with cash in polythene bags. One voter stated, “We don’t know how much was there.

They ran away and used a polythene bag to take the money away.” The distribution of cash was said to violate electoral guidelines prohibiting such actions at polling units. Some voters displayed cash they claimed to have recovered from the alleged distributors, along with a card identified as belonging to the APC.

The incidents reportedly occurred at a polling unit associated with Najeem Salaam, the governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC). As of the report's filing, there was no immediate response from the APC regarding these allegations.
